Seminole State College of Florida offers 3 construction management pathways:
- Building Construction Technology Certificate
- A.S. in Construction Management
- B.S. in Construction
Program Pathways Overview
| Program | Est. Tuition | Est. Duration | Credit Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Certificate | $1.9K in-state / $6.9K out-of-state | 1 year (2 semesters) | 18 |
| A.S. | $6.3K in-state / $22.9K out-of-state | 2 years (4 semesters) | 60 |
| B.S. | $13.7K in-state / $49.6K out-of-state | 4 to 4.5 years (8-9 semesters) | 126 |
Tuition estimates use Seminole State’s 2026-27 per-credit tuition plus mandatory fees, at the lower-division or baccalaureate rate matching each course level.
- Why choose it: All six certificate courses sit inside the A.S., and the A.S. construction courses cover all 30 prerequisite credits of the B.S. The B.S. is ACCE-accredited and is the only Florida state-college program on ACCE’s March 2024 bachelor’s list.
- Trade-off: The B.S. totals 126 credits and requires Concepts of Calculus or higher, while the A.S. accepts statistics for math. A.S. students who plan to continue should take College Algebra early.

A.S. Internship and Field Experience
- Required: 2 credits chosen from BCN 2941 (1 credit), 2942 (2 credits), or 2949 (3 credits).
- Hours per credit: not clearly stated.
- Paid status: not clearly stated.
- Placement support and named host employers: not clearly stated.
A required internship gives every graduate documented field time. Florida contractor licensure also requires field experience, including at least one year of supervisory work, so early site exposure is useful even though the internship alone will not meet that standard.
A.S. Admissions
Open admission through Seminole State’s general application.
- Application deadlines follow the same annual calendar as the certificate.
- Certificate graduates enter with 18 of the 41 required credits complete.
You Should Know
- The A.S. accepts STA 2023 Statistics for its math requirement. The B.S. requires MAC 1105 College Algebra and MAC 2233 Concepts of Calculus or higher. A.S. students planning the B.S. should take College Algebra.
- Seminole State recommends ECO 2013 Macroeconomics as the social science choice for bachelor’s-bound students; the B.S. requires it.
- Four required courses are lecture/lab (“C” suffix) and need campus attendance.
B.S. in Construction
The estimated tuition for the B.S. in Construction at Seminole State College of Florida is approximately $13,680 (92 lower-division credits at $104.38/credit plus 34 upper-division credits at $119.91/credit).
The program can generally be completed in about 4 to 4.5 years from the start (126 credits, 8-9 semesters), or about 5 semesters after the Seminole State A.S. (derived).
Official program: Construction, Bachelor of Science
B.S. Curriculum
The B.S. totals 126 credits: 30 prerequisite, 37 required core, 22 foundation and elective, and 37 general education.
- Structures and systems: BCN 2405C Applied Statics, BCN 3225C Soil Mechanics and Foundations, BCN 3451C Structures (Florida Building Code loads), BCN 3568C MEPF Systems (4 credits)
- Project controls: BCN 3724C Advanced Scheduling (Microsoft Project, Phoenix, lean principles), BCN 4612C Advanced Estimating, BCN 4709C Construction Project Management
- Business and law: BCN 3708 Construction Laws and Contracts, BCN 4753 Construction Financing and Accounting, plus one business law and one accounting course
- Safety: BCN 3730 Construction Safety Management, with OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
- Capstone: BCN 4787C (6 credits), a stand-alone final-semester project with estimate, schedule, and project analysis
- Math and science: MAC 1105 College Algebra, MAC 2233 Concepts of Calculus or higher, MTB 1329 Applied Math, PHY 1053C Physics, EVR 1001 Environmental Science
- Electives: 6 credits from the VDC, CAD, Revit, and Civil 3D list, plus 4 open credits
The upper division leans toward management. Five of the 11 core courses are controls, law, or finance, and the capstone tests estimating and scheduling together. Only 34 of 126 credits are upper-division (3000/4000 level), which keeps most of the degree at the lower per-credit rate.

B.S. Internship and Field Experience
- No required internship course in the B.S.
- Seminole State describes co-ops, internships, job shadowing, site visits, and a monthly industry speaker series.
- Credit, hours, paid status, and named employer partners: not clearly stated.
- Interdisciplinary projects with the engineering and interior design programs are part of the curriculum.
Students entering from the Seminole State A.S. bring the required A.S. internship with them. Students admitted from an A.A. or another degree may finish without supervised field credit, so they should seek a co-op on their own.
B.S. Admissions
The B.S. is a limited, upper-division program with its own admission review.
- Associate degree or higher; students with 60 credits and no associate degree can request committee review.
- Minimum 2.5 GPA, maintained for the whole program.
- All 30 prerequisite credits must be done with a “C” or higher before the upper-division core.
- Five Florida A.S. programs (including construction management and building construction technology) are treated as substantially meeting prerequisites.
- Summer and fall entry; priority deadlines in March (summer) and July (fall).
- Students must be college-ready in English and math.
You Should Know
- The department allows no more than four repeats across all construction courses combined.
- Applicants from non-construction degrees are admitted conditionally and must finish missing prerequisites before the core.
- At 126 credits, the degree runs six credits beyond the 120-credit benchmark.
Tuition
Seminole State charges $79.78 tuition plus $24.30 in fees per lower-division credit, and $91.79 tuition plus $27.82 in fees per baccalaureate credit (in-state, 2026-27). A $0.30 per-credit ID card fee brings the totals to $104.38 and $119.91. Seminole State’s own tuition tables include that fee.
| Per-Credit Charge | Lower Division | Baccalaureate |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition | $79.78 | $91.79 |
| Financial aid fee | $3.00 | $4.37 |
| Student activity fee | $7.88 | $8.74 |
| Capital improvement fee | $9.48 | $10.34 |
| Technology fee | $3.94 | $4.37 |
| ID card fee | $0.30 | $0.30 |
| In-state total | $104.38 | $119.91 |
| Out-of-state total | $381.87 | $424.65 |
Estimated program totals:
- Certificate: 18 × $104.38 = $1,879 in-state; 18 × $381.87 = $6,874 out-of-state
- A.S.: 60 × $104.38 = $6,263 in-state; 60 × $381.87 = $22,912 out-of-state
- B.S.: (92 × $104.38) + (34 × $119.91) = $13,680 in-state; $49,570 out-of-state
- B.S. after the Seminole State A.S. (derived, about 69 remaining credits): about $7,730 in-state
Be aware that:
- Lab fees apply to many construction courses, including BCN 1221, 1270C, 2230, 2231, 2251C, 3730, and the VDC and Revit electives. Per-course amounts are not listed; the college range for career program labs is $3 to $520.
- Choosing BUL 3130 or ACG 3024 for the business requirement moves 6 more credits to the baccalaureate rate, adding about $93.
- Online sections carry an $8.85 per-credit distance learning fee.
- Books and supplies are estimated by the college at $1,000 per year and are not included above.
- The 69-credit post-A.S. figure assumes the A.S. student chose College Algebra, Macroeconomics, and a VDC or CAD elective. Other choices add credits.
The real cost of the full ladder is low for an ACCE-accredited bachelor’s because roughly three-quarters of the credits bill at the lower-division rate. The variables that move the total most are lab fees and math sequencing, not the rate itself. See the official fee schedule.
Why Choose This Construction Management Program?
Best suited for Central Florida students who want to start with a short credential and keep stacking toward an accredited bachelor’s without changing schools.
Working adults and career changers. The certificate is 18 credits of pure construction content, and every course carries forward. The B.S. runs day and evening classes, so working students can move up a rung at a time.
Students who want an ACCE bachelor’s at state college cost. The B.S. carries the same programmatic accreditation as Florida’s university CM programs, including Florida Gulf Coast University, but bills mostly at a $104.38 in-state rate. The cost verdict is clear: about $13,680 in tuition and fees for the full 126 credits, before lab fees and books.
The honest trade-offs. The B.S. runs 126 credits, requires calculus-level math, and has no required internship. Students who skip the A.S. need to plan their own field experience. Those who need a fully online option should look elsewhere, since every pathway requires campus attendance.
Accreditation and Credentials
Seminole State College of Florida is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. Institutional accreditation supports federal financial aid eligibility and credit transfer.
The B.S. in Construction holds ACCE accreditation, verified on ACCE’s baccalaureate list (Rev. 2024.03.13): initial accreditation July 2022, expiring July 2027. The renewal review is scheduled for July 2027, so check its status after that date. Seminole State claims ACCE accreditation only for the B.S.; the certificate and A.S. are not programmatically accredited, which is typical at the two-year level.
For licensing, Seminole State states the A.S. and B.S. meet the educational requirements for and help prepare students for Florida contractor exams (Certified General, Building, and Residential Contractor). The degree alone does not license a graduate; Florida also requires field experience, including at least one year of supervisory work, plus exams and financial requirements. B.S. students also earn OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification in BCN 3730.
