Department of Engineering Technology and Construction Management, School of Engineering • Pueblo, CO • Campus and Online • $429/Credit (In-State, incl. fees, derived)
Colorado State University Pueblo offers one construction management degree, the B.S. in Construction Management, on the Pueblo campus or fully online, with an optional 3+2 route into an MBA.
Program Pathways Overview
| Program | Est. Tuition | Est. Duration | Credit Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| B.S. (campus) | $51.5K in-state / $96.7K out-of-state | 4 years (8 semesters) | 120 |
| B.S. (online) | $52.8K in-state / $52.8K out-of-state | 3-4 years (8-week terms) | 120 |
Tuition estimates use CSU Pueblo’s 2026-27 per-credit tuition plus mandatory fees (campus) and its 2026-27 Extended Studies online rate.
- Why choose it: CSU Pueblo charges one online rate, $440 per credit, to students in every state, so a nonresident can finish the same 120-credit B.S. online for about $52,800 instead of about $96,700 on campus.
- Trade-off: The B.S. carries no ACCE or ABET accreditation and no required internship, and its math stops at College Algebra and introductory statistics even though it includes statics and three structures courses.

B.S. Construction Management
The estimated tuition for the B.S. in Construction Management at Colorado State University Pueblo is approximately $51,483 in-state or $96,715 out-of-state on campus (120 credits at $315.86 or $692.80 per credit, plus mandatory fees, derived), or $52,800 online for all students (120 credits at $440).
The program can generally be completed in about 4 years (8 semesters) on campus, per CSU Pueblo’s planning sheet, or 3 to 4 years online, per CSU Pueblo Online.
B.S. Curriculum
The 120 credits split into general education, an 18-credit business block, 3 credits of computer skills, a 58-credit major, and 9 credits of technical and management electives.
- Math and science: MATH 120 College Algebra, MATH 156 Introduction to Statistics, Principles of Physics I with lab, and chemistry or earth science with lab.
- Estimating and management: CET 303 Construction Management, CET 304 Building Cost Estimating, CET 305 Heavy/Highway Cost Estimating, CM 351 Planning and Scheduling, CM 445 Safety, CM 461 Construction Law, and CM 465 Construction Accounting and Finance.
- Structures: CM 231 Statics and Structures (4 credits), CM 330 Wood Structural Systems, and CM 341 Concrete and Steel Structures (4 credits).
- Site and materials: CET 102 Surveying I, CET 115 Civil Drafting I, CET 207 Materials and Methods, CET 208 Concrete and Asphalt Materials, and CM 320 Soils.
- Systems and sustainability: CM 451 Mechanical and Electrical Systems (4 credits) and CM 437 LEED Lab.
- Business: Financial Accounting, Business Communications, Ethics in Business, Principles of Management, and macro- and microeconomics.
- Capstone: CM 475 Senior Project, with a packaged submittal and oral presentation.
Required courses lean slightly toward management: 13 management and business courses against 10 technical courses. A separate heavy/highway estimating course and a concrete and asphalt materials course point graduates toward road and site work as well as buildings. The 11-credit structures sequence asks more than the math behind it, since students reach statics with College Algebra and no trigonometry course.

You Should Know
- The program page says 130 credits and names Vertical, Horizontal, and Sustainability emphases; the catalog lists 120 credits and no emphases.
- The program page lists certification preparation areas (project manager, procurement, estimating, surveying and modeling, safety and law) without naming a certifying body.
- Graduation requires a 2.0 GPA in CM major courses and a program exit exam, used for program evaluation.
B.S. Internship and Field Experience
- Requirement: no internship course is required in the catalog.
- Experience: CSU Pueblo cites internships, field trips, and project-based assignments, and “strong ties” to construction firms for internships and jobs; no employers are named.
- Industry review: an advisory committee reviews the program each year, and graduates and employers are surveyed.
- Outcomes: not published.
Without a required internship, field experience depends on the student. Online students, often already working in construction, may not need it; campus students coming from high school should plan their own summer work, since the degree does not build it in.
B.S. Admissions
Admission is to CSU Pueblo; no separate application to the major is stated.
- Freshmen: high school graduation with a 2.0 GPA, for the online program.
- Transfer: 24 or more college-level credits with a 2.3 GPA for regular admission; lower GPAs may be admitted on probation.
- Community college transfer: CSU Pueblo’s CM transfer guide (dated September 2015) maps Colorado community college courses and accepts up to 60 credits, with business, CIS, and all CM and CET courses taken at CSU Pueblo.
- Online starts: 8-week terms with year-round applications.
3+2 B.S./MBA
- Structure: 151 credits (35 general education, 79 undergraduate, 37 MBA) in about five years; three MBA management courses replace the 9 undergraduate elective credits.
- Timing: apply in the spring of year 3 and start graduate courses the following summer.
- Eligibility: 75 credits including 12 upper-level CM credits, two faculty letters, and a $35 application fee.
- MBA cost: 37 credits at $348.04 is about $12,877 in-state on campus (tuition only, derived); the online MBA rate is $575 per credit.
You Should Know
- The 3+2 page asks for a 3.0 overall GPA and 3.25 in CM courses, while the catalog lists a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Tuition
For 2026-27, Colorado residents on campus pay $431.86 per credit, or $315.86 after the College Opportunity Fund stipend; nonresidents pay $692.80 and WUE students $647.79. Mandatory fees run $1,697.43 for a 15-credit semester ($91.37 per credit plus a base, capped at 18 credits). Online courses cost $440 per credit for everyone and are not eligible for the stipend. See CSU Pueblo’s tuition and fees page.
| Charge | Colorado Resident | Nonresident |
|---|---|---|
| Campus semester, 15 credits (tuition + mandatory fees) | $6,435.33 | $12,089.43 |
| Campus tuition, 120 credits | $37,903.20 | $83,136.00 |
| Campus mandatory fees, 8 semesters | $13,579.44 | $13,579.44 |
| B.S. campus total (derived) | $51,483 | $96,715 |
| B.S. online total (120 x $440) | $52,800 | $52,800 |
Be aware that:
- CSU Pueblo charges per credit up to 18 credits, so the campus total depends on credits taken, not semesters.
- The resident campus figure assumes the College Opportunity Fund stipend is authorized; online courses do not receive it.
- WUE students from western states pay $647.79 per credit on campus, about $91,300 for the degree with fees, still more than the online rate.
- CSU Pueblo charges differential tuition in its Business, CIS, Engineering, and Nursing programs; its tuition page does not list Construction Management, so none is included here.
- Online fees are not listed on the Extended Studies chart; course and lab fees were not readable in the fee schedule.
For Colorado residents, campus and online cost about the same, around $51,500 to $52,800. For anyone outside Colorado, online is the cheaper route by roughly $44,000, which makes this degree’s out-of-state cost close to a resident’s.
Why Choose This Construction Management Program?
Best suited for working adults anywhere in the U.S. who want a broad construction B.S. online at one price, and for southern Colorado students who want to stay near Pueblo.
Online students outside Colorado. At $440 per credit for every state, the online B.S. runs about $52,800, a fraction of the nonresident price at Colorado State ($158,000) or CU Denver ($160,760). The trade is accreditation: Colorado State holds ACCE and CU Denver holds ABET, and CSU Pueblo holds neither.
Heavy civil and road work. Heavy/highway estimating, concrete and asphalt materials, surveying, and soils give the degree a horizontal-construction side alongside the building courses.
Students thinking about an MBA. The 3+2 route adds an MBA for about 37 graduate credits, with management courses doing double duty as undergraduate electives.
Accreditation and Credentials
Colorado State University Pueblo is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, which covers the online program too and supports credit transfer and federal financial aid eligibility.
The B.S. in Construction Management lists no programmatic accreditation. It does not appear on ACCE’s baccalaureate list (Rev. 2024.03.13), and CSU Pueblo’s program pages do not mention ABET for this degree.
CM 437 LEED Lab works on green building practice, and the program page names several certification preparation areas, but CSU Pueblo does not tie them to a specific exam. It does not state that the degree counts toward any Colorado contractor license.
