Tuition estimates use CT State’s posted full-time tuition plus mandatory fees for 12-17 credits per semester; New England residents pay a lower regional rate, shown in the Tuition section.
- Why choose it: CT State’s Capital campus A.S. pairs building and heavy/highway construction the same way CCSU’s ACCE-accredited B.S. does, and CCSU’s own transfer flowchart lists CCSU equivalents for four of its construction courses, all for about $10,700 in-state.
- Trade-off: Neither associate degree requires an internship, and CCSU’s flowchart shows no equivalents for CT State’s building estimating, safety, or planning courses, so transfer students should expect to repeat some management content.

The program is almost entirely management: estimating, scheduling, administration, safety, and business. It has no structures, surveying, CAD, or MEP course, so students who transfer to CCSU will take those technical courses there.
More curriculum details are available here.
You Should Know
- The math requirement is MATH 1010 or higher. CCSU’s B.S. requires trigonometry or precalculus and applied calculus, so transfer students should take the higher math course and choose PHYS 1201 over CHEM 1110.
- CCSU’s flowchart lists equivalents for CMGT 1110, 1150, 1160, and 2160, plus ACCT 1130, ECON 1002, and PHYS 1201. It shows no CCSU equivalent for CMGT 2150 building estimating, CMGT 2230 safety, or CMGT 2275 planning.
- The catalog description calls the program a certificate in one sentence and a degree in another.
CM A.S. Internship and Field Experience
The A.S. has no internship, co-op, or field requirement. The catalog mentions hands-on project work but names no course for it, so students who want site experience before transferring will need to find construction work on their own.

Tuition
CT State charges $192 per credit for Connecticut residents, with tuition capped at $2,304 per semester for 12 or more credits. A College Services Fee ($305 per semester at 12+ credits), a $20 student activity fee, and a $40 transportation fee bring a full-time semester to $2,669.
| Per semester, 12-17 credits | Connecticut | New England regional | Out-of-state |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuition | $2,304 | $3,468 | $6,936 |
| College Services Fee | $305 | $435 | $802 |
| Activity and transportation fees | $60 | $60 | $60 |
| Total | $2,669 | $3,963 | $7,798 |
- A.S. degrees (4 semesters): $10,676 in-state, $15,852 regional, $31,192 out-of-state (derived).
- Certificates (2 semesters): $5,338 in-state, $7,926 regional, $15,596 out-of-state (derived).
- Regional rate: residents of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont pay the New England regional rate.
Be aware that:
- CT State’s tuition page was last updated November 1, 2024, and shows the rates the Board of Regents froze for 2025-26; a 2026-27 rate was not found.
- Part-time students pay $192 per credit plus a tiered fee, so spreading the degree over more semesters costs more than the full-time cap.
- Supplemental course fees ($108 or $215 per course, up to $430 per term) and material fees ($54 per course, up to $108 per term) apply to some courses; CT State does not list which construction courses carry them.
- Credits above 17 in a semester add $100.
Because tuition stops rising at 12 credits, full-time students taking 15-16 credits pay about $175 per credit including fees. A Connecticut student who finishes the Capital A.S. and transfers to CCSU could pay roughly $10,700 for the first two years instead of about $26,000 at CCSU’s full-time rate. See CT State’s tuition and fees page.
Why Choose This Construction Management Program?
Choose by campus and by where you plan to go next.
Capital A.S. for the CCSU route: Its building and heavy/highway courses line up with CCSU’s B.S., and CCSU publishes a flowchart for CT State transfers. Meet the MATH 1010-or-higher requirement with a trigonometry or precalculus course, and choose PHYS 1201, so the math and science also carry over.
Norwalk or Three Rivers A.S. for a technical start: Structures, site design, and CAD suit students heading toward field engineering or building inspection, and its structures course maps to CCSU’s statics course. It has less estimating and scheduling than the Capital degree.
Certificates for a one-year start: The Capital certificate is the first year of its A.S. The Norwalk and Three Rivers certificate is more design-oriented and does not fully stack into its A.S. Students considering a private school can use the University of Hartford CT Transfer Guarantee with a 2.50 GPA, though Hartford does not say how many credits transfer.
Accreditation and Credentials
CT State Community College, formed in 2023 from Connecticut’s twelve community colleges, is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. That accreditation supports federal financial aid and credit transfer to four-year schools.
CT State does not state programmatic accreditation for any of these programs, which is typical at the two-year level. None of the four pathways names an embedded industry certification such as OSHA 10 or 30.
