Program Pathways Overview
| Program | Est. Tuition | Est. Duration | Credit Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| A.S. | $2.9K in-state / $28.9K out-of-state | 2 years (4 semesters) | 60 (33 in the major) |
| CM Certificate | $872 in-state / $8.2K out-of-state | 1 year (2 semesters) | 17 |

| Special Inspection Certificate | $596 in-state / $5.3K out-of-state | 1 year (2 semesters) | 11 |
Tuition estimates use the $46 per unit California community college enrollment fee plus Citrus College’s mandatory fall and spring fees; out-of-state adds $432 per unit in nonresident tuition and capital outlay.
- Why choose it: Citrus College says its construction management program earned ACCE accreditation in February 2026, the first California community college to do so, and its 33-unit A.S. covers estimating, scheduling, surveying, and a project management capstone for about $2,900 in-state.
- Trade-off: The A.S. lists no required field experience, and no statewide transfer degree exists for construction management, so students heading to a bachelor’s must plan transfer course by course.

A.S. in Construction Management
The estimated tuition for the A.S. in Construction Management at Citrus College is approximately $2,940 in-state (60 credits at $49/credit, derived from $46 per unit plus $45 in fees for 4 semesters).
The program can generally be completed in about 2 years (4 semesters).
The A.S. in Construction Management pairs a 33-unit major with Citrus College general education and proficiency requirements, preparing students for entry-level construction management jobs or promotion within the industry. The 60-unit total reflects California’s associate degree minimum. The out-of-state estimate is about $28,860.
A.S. Curriculum
The major is 13 required courses with no electives, and each must be passed with a C or better.
- Estimating, scheduling, and project management (4 courses, 12 units): CM 110 Introduction and Fundamentals of Construction Management, CM 275 Construction Estimating, CM 290 Construction Planning, Scheduling and Control, and CM 295 Construction Project Management Capstone.
- Field, methods, and systems (5 courses, 12 units): CM 130 Surveying Methods and Applications, CM 140 Construction Materials, Methods and Assembly, CM 270 Construction Equipment and Methods, CM 281 Principles of Mechanical, Electrical and Piping Systems, and CM 282 Principles of Structural Design.
- Documents, codes, and technology (3 courses, 6 units): CM 120 Plans Reading, CM 121 Construction Contract Documents, Codes and Specifications, and CM 150 Current Technology Applications in Construction.
- Safety (1 course, 3 units): CM 210 Construction Project Safety.
Citrus College’s A.S. covers the core of a bachelor’s-level construction sequence, including estimating, scheduling, equipment, and a capstone, and its learning outcomes are aligned with ACCE’s. Additional CM courses outside the major, such as Safety Program Management, Construction Quality Management, and special inspection, let students add depth.

You Should Know
- The A.S. page and the discipline course list differ for three courses: CM 140, CM 150, and CM 282 show different titles or units.
- The A.S. page does not state a total unit count; 60 units is California’s minimum for an associate degree.
- The program page may still describe ACCE accreditation as in progress; the college’s March 2026 announcement says it was granted.
A.S. Internship and Field Experience
- Required: Not listed on the A.S. requirements page.
- Cooperative education: CM 698 and CM 699 courses award 1-4 units for 60 to 225 hours of fieldwork in a position equivalent to an internship or higher, approved by the program director.
- Capstone: CM 295 Construction Project Management Capstone.
- Pay and employer partners: Not clearly stated; the program has an industry advisory board.
Co-op credit is available to A.S. students and built into two of the certificates, so students who already work in construction can earn credit for that job.
A.S. Admissions
Citrus College is open-enrollment, and the program lists no separate admission requirements.
- Prerequisites: most CM courses require CM 110, and the capstone requires estimating and scheduling.
- Grades: a C or higher in each major course.
Certificate in Construction Management
The estimated tuition for the Certificate in Construction Management at Citrus College is approximately $872 in-state (17 credits at $51.29/credit, derived from $46 per unit plus fees for 2 semesters).

Every unit applies to the A.S., and the required co-op gives a first documented work placement. The 1-year curriculum map shows 20 units because it adds CM 270, a prerequisite for estimating.
Certificate in Construction Inspection
The estimated tuition for the Certificate in Construction Inspection at Citrus College is approximately $895 in-state (17.5 credits at $51.14/credit, derived from $46 per unit plus fees for 2 semesters).

Tuition
California residents pay the $46 per unit community college enrollment fee, plus about $45 per fall or spring semester in health, student service, and representation fees. Nonresidents add $409 per unit in tuition and $23 per unit in capital outlay.
| Item (2026-27) | Amount |
|---|---|
| Enrollment fee (all students) | $46 per unit |
| Nonresident tuition and capital outlay | +$432 per unit |
| Health service fee | $28 per fall or spring semester |
| Student service fee | $15 per fall or spring semester |
| Student representation fee | $2 per fall or spring semester |
- A.S. estimate: 60 × $46 = $2,760, plus 4 × $45 = $180, for $2,940 in-state; 60 × $478 + $180 = $28,860 out-of-state (derived).
- Certificate estimates: 17 units = $872, 17.5 units = $895, and 11 units = $596 in-state, each with 2 semesters of fees (derived).
Be aware that:
- The California College Promise Grant waives the enrollment fee for eligible California residents.
- The student service and representation fees can be waived; parking ($70 per semester) is not included.
- The out-of-state estimate assumes nonresidents pay the enrollment fee in addition to nonresident tuition.
- Books and materials are not included.
At about $2,900 in-state, the A.S. costs less than a single semester at Cal Poly Pomona, a nearby bachelor’s option. See Citrus College’s fees and tuition.
Why Choose This Construction Management Program?
Citrus College’s four credentials form a ladder, so students can stop at the level they need.
Start with a certificate: The 11-unit special inspection certificate leads toward ICC and LADBS credentials, while the 17-unit CM and inspection certificates add credited fieldwork.
Finish the A.S.: The 33-unit major covers estimating, scheduling, safety, and a capstone in a program Citrus says is ACCE-accredited, enough for entry-level roles on its own.
Then transfer: CSU-transferable courses can count toward a bachelor’s at schools such as Cal Poly Pomona or CSU Long Beach, though each university decides which CM courses meet major requirements.
Accreditation and Credentials
Citrus College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, which supports federal financial aid eligibility and credit transfer.
Citrus College says the American Council for Construction Education accredited its construction management program at the end of February 2026 with zero deficiencies, after a self-study in May 2025 and a site visit in October 2025, making it the first California community college with ACCE accreditation. ACCE’s own associate list was not available to confirm.
The special inspection certificate prepares students for ICC and LADBS inspector credentials, and the CM 280 course prepares qualified students for the Safety Trained Supervisor – Construction (STSC) certification.
